Aircraft Handling Systems

INDAL's personnel are uniquely trained and experienced in designing and building system solutions for handling aircraft and UAVs onboard ships in the toughest possible environments. The helicopter Recovery Assist, Secure and Traverse (RAST) and Aircraft Ship Integrated Secure and Traverse (ASIST) systems are established as the system of choice with navies around the world. These systems are unique in that they not only enable helicopter pilots to safely land and take-off from the decks of relatively small ships in severe weather conditions and at night, but also to traverse the helicopter into and out of a hangar, requiring no men on deck.

TC-ASIST is a variation of ASIST that allows similar operational capability without requiring structural modifications to the helicopter to accept the securing probe. Capture and maneuver of the helicopter is accomplished by a larger securing device that interfaces with the helicopter at the main gear.

INDAL’s product offering now includes a line of specialised battery powered free deck aircraft handlers. The MANTIS provides the capability to maneuver helicopters and fighter aircraft within the confines of a flight deck, shipboard hangar space or on the flight line.

To support its main helicopter handling system products, INDAL has developed sophisticated computer simulations to evaluate the on-deck performance of manned maritime helicopters and unmanned rotary UAVs from various ship platforms.

Underwater Sensor Handling Systems

INDAL's inventory of marine towed handling systems and associated equipment has grown over the years and includes the design and manufacture of towed array handling systems (TAHS) for both submarines and surface ships. INDAL's product line also includes a variety of variable depth sonar handling systems for navies throughout the world. Over the years, the company has successfully developed a number of active and passive motion compensation winch systems for towed body, minesweeping and torpedo decoy systems.

Specialized Structures

For more than 40 years, INDAL Technologies has been supplying telescopic helicopter hangars and hangar doors to the world's navies and coast guards. Telescopic hangars provide vital protection for helicopters aboard ships, and retract in sections to optimize flight deck availability where space is at a premium. High strength sliding doors, roller curtain doors and segmented panel doors have all been delivered meet a variety of requirements include fire shock and blast ratings.
