Lockheed Martin Wins Role On Major U.S. Army Sustainment Services Program

The U.S. Army Sustainment Command selected Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] to compete for future opportunities to provide maintenance operations, supply support and transportation services through its new Enhanced Army Global Logistics Enterprise (EAGLE) program.

The Army's Directorate of Logistics organizations, as well as other groups within the branch, will be able to use EAGLE for sustainment services, including transporting and maintaining equipment in theater, resetting equipment so it's ready when needed, training soldiers on equipment prior to deployment, tracking and inventorying stock, and monitoring shelf life to ensure equipment serviceability and parts accountability and availability.

"Sustainment activities, such as maintenance and supply chain management, form the foundation for our customers to perform their vital missions around the world," said June Shrewsbury, vice president of technical services within Lockheed Martin's Global Training and Logistics unit.  "This behind-the-scenes activity is critical to supporting soldiers in their missions and ensuring that the Army can achieve its objectives."

Lockheed Martin has successfully supported multiple fast-turn logistics programs like EAGLE, including leading sustainment activity for the Army's Field Logistics Readiness Centers at Forts Benning, Stewart and Bragg.  Additionally, Lockheed Martin supports the Army through its Field and Installations Readiness Support Team contract, an initiative that covered all logistics tasks at domestic and overseas locations.

The EAGLE program is structured through a Basic Ordering Agreement, a written understanding – versus a traditional contract – between the government and selected contractors.  It has a potential value of $23 billion for all contractors over its five-year period of performance.  Work will be performed at multiple Army installations across the country.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that employs about 120,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. The corporation's net sales for 2011 were $46.5 billion.
